MisOcc Division named overall champion in One Asenso MisOcc Palaro 2024
TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental--Sports delegates from
the Misamis Occidental Division garnered the most number of wins after the
recently concluded first-ever One Asenso Misamis Occidental Palaro
2024.
MisOcc Division brought home 170 gold, 119 silver, and
145 bronze medals and was named the overall champion in the sports event
in both secondary and elementary categories. The delegates will also
bring home a cash prize of Php100,000.
The grand champion MisOcc Division is followed by
the Tangub City Division ranking first runner-up at the Palaro. They will
get a cash prize of Php80,000. The Ozamiz City Division ranked second runner-up
and brought home a cash prize of Php50,000; while the Oroquieta City
Division landed third runner-up and received a cash prize of Php30,000.
Gov. Henry Oaminal also ordered the provincial government to
give out additional incentives to winning participants.
Each athlete with a medal will receive cash incentives
of P2,000 (gold); P1,000 (silver); and P500 (bronze) under individual
categories. While those playing with teams will get P20,000 (gold),
P10,000 (silver), and P5,000 (bronze).
During the closing ceremony, the sports organizers also
handed over special awards. Trophies and cash prizes were given
to Oroquieta City Division as Best in Saludo; Delegation of Bonifacio and
Don Victoriano District as Most Clean and Eco-Friendly Billeting Quarter; and
Pangabuan Integrated School as Most Clean and
Eco-Friendly Billeting School.'
In his message for the event, Gov. Oaminal said the
provincial government is eyeing to establish a strong sports contingent from
the Misamis Occidental by harnessing all talented and
skillful athletes in the province's four DepEd divisions.
The governor is hoping that the One MisOcc Team will be
bringing more sports awards to the province.
"The provincial government remains dedicated to
improving future One Misamis Occidental activities and supporting Misamisnon
athletes in the realm of sports," Gov. Oaminal said.
Reynaldo E. Manuel Jr., the Schools Division Superintendent
of Misamis Occidental DepEd Division, said the successful wrapping up
of One Asenso Misamis Occidental Palaro 2024 serves as a testament that
the provincial government is dedicated and committed to providing a conducive
sports environment for all Misamisnons.
“Our experience would not have been granted without the
support of Governor Henry Oaminal who deserves our gratitude in abundance. A
person whose delight is to be of service and constantly make us happy and whose
vision for the future is beyond compare," Manuel said.
"Also, I am truly captivated by the level of
dedication, passion, and sportsmanship displayed by the host city, Tangub
City—a grand welcome given to its delegation making them feel secure, and
well-sheltered which eventually demanded a great deal of sacrifice from the
